INSTRUMENTS

Eligibility

  • All instruments including Piano, Strings, Woodwinds, Brass, Acoustic and Electric Guitars, and Traditional instruments are welcome to participate in the competition.  

  • All contestants must submit a completed audition application and an unedited video link(s) for the audition.  

  • A copy of the birth certificate or passport proves the applicant's age and country of residence.

  • The video should be submitted via YouTube or similar websites. No simplified arrangements will be accepted.
     

Repertoire Requirements

  • First round: One piece from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary Period

  • Second round: One piece from Baroque, Classical, Romantic, and Contemporary Periods and our featured composers.

  • The Length of the piece(s) should not exceed the duration allowed for each age group.   

  • Contestants must play with memory. Music for the ensembles does not have to be memorized.

  • Traditional Instruments: Please choose one or two pieces from the traditional, and contemporary periods and our featured composers.

Deadline

  • Application deadline for the preliminary round: October 20th, 2024 

  • Application deadline for the final round: November 3rd, 2024

  • Final results will be released two (2) weeks after the application deadline

  • Winners Concert at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall: January 11th, 2025

 

Note that the final results will be released three weeks after the application deadline.  Winners will be notified via email. 

Important Notes

  • Winners of the Competition will perform one piece selected by the judges from the contestant's audition repertoire.

  • Only piano accompaniment can be used at the Winners Concert. 

  • All contestants must bring their own piano accompanist. New York Global Music Competition does not provide a piano accompanist but can recommend one if needed.

Application Fees

  • Payment of a non-refundable $90.00 application fee for each round of audition. The fee must be submitted with the application.

  • For winners of the audition state, payment of a non-refundable $400 solo performance fee at the Carnegie Hall Winners Concert night is compulsory. It must be submitted alongside the completed application. This fee covers two concert tickets(one for the contestant performer and one for the family/friend), performance pictures, winners and teacher certificates, and trophies for the Winners Concert at Carnegie Hall.

  • Payment of a non-refundable $80 application fee (per performer) for each round of audition if contestants wish to submit an ensemble application. For winners of the audition state, payment of a non-refundable $210 performance fee (per performer) at the Gala night is compulsory and must be submitted alongside the completed application. This fee covers two concert tickets (one for the contestant performer and one for the family/friend), performance pictures, winners and teacher certificates, and trophies for the Winners Concert at Carnegie Hall.
